…in the beginning

A challenging, surprising, and unforgettable at-home escape room experience. That was the focus for us – storytellers and the acclaimed escape room creators from Room 237. Together we formed Eigenaar Onbekend.

First the Netherlands

What started as a widely felt need to comfortably get together again post-covid, quickly developed into a successful home experience for friend teams, escape room fans and game lovers alike. The Dutch games received widespread acclaim from escape room fanatics across the Netherlands. First with De Stalker, then De Zwerver.

Always on topic and in search for added value, we move our games toward social themes, with storylines and gameplay in a more and more unique way, made in collaboration with a growing number of unique partners. Our third game, De Vitaloog, is such a collaboration.
A thrilling escape game, underpinned by a theoretical framework created in collaboration with a certified vitality partner. Next to the exciting, hours long gameplay, It was also picked up by training programs for the informative strength of its content.

Then the world

Encouraged by great reviews from players and message boards like Escapetalk, in 2024 we felt it was time to share our carefully constructed games with the world outside The Netherlands. Hence Owner Unknown, the international and multilingual counterpart of the Eigenaar Onbekend team. Same gameplay, same details, different language. Your language.

With a crowd sourcing campaign on Kickstarter, the three games were successfully funded for meticulous translation in both English and German. In the spring of 2025, The Stalker / Der Stalker, The Drifter / Der Streuner, and The Vitalogist / Der Vitalcoach were shipped to a whopping 17 different countries. From Austria to the USA and from Australia to Sweden, the Owner Unknown games now find their way across the globe. And there is more to come …
